| Brief History of Paper Connection International, LLC
Once founded in 1995 by Lauren Pearlman, Paper Connection International has been the exclusive American supplier of papers from Japan's Kochi Prefecture Handmade Paper Co-op Union. The union is made up of approximately 45 paper mills producing hundreds of different styles, colors and materials of beautifully crafted paper. In 1997, Paper Connection expanded its product line to include even more exotic papers from India, Nepal, Latin America, China and soon Africa. In 2007, an exclusive patterned paper line was launched called the Laurelai Collection. Designed in-house, the Laurelai Collection is made up of 6 FUN patterns in 3 LUSCIOUS color-ways, all on acid-free recycled cotton paper. (As seen in Real Simple and Blueprint magazines.) Paper Connection continues to design new items to add to an already extensive collection of paper products. |

| ABOUT PAPERWOMAN:
Lauren Pearlman has over 20 years experience doing business with Asia and in the world of fine art paper. While living in Japan from 1985 to 1989, and teaching English in Tokyo, Lauren learned how to make paper and a passion was born. Seeing the papermakers at work supporting their communities while creating beautiful paper for other artisans' needs, Lauren believed that the rest of the world should benefit from their talent. As of late 2002, Lauren maintains a double-residence in both Japan and Rhode Island; thus she has easy access to many of our suppliers. Lauren witnesses first-hand the major changes that have occurred in the handmade paper world. With this knowledge she provides the latest information in a timely fashion to the trade. The vital bridge Lauren builds is invaluable to the paper community. Lauren continues to lecture about the Japanese hand papermaking process. She intends to ensure the knowledge of this long tradition is maintained for generations to come. She feels it is vital to spread the word about real washi; the finest paper in the world. If you would like to invite Lauren Pearlman to your store, gallery, or school, please contact paperwoman@paperconnection.com.
