| Kin-Gin Rakusui-shi is a native Tosa paper specially handmade by Mr. Haruhiko Tamura who, under Japanese law, has been designated a "Living National Treasure" for his production of this traditionally handmade art paper. Using the purest kozo (mulberry) fibers, first, a thin white sheet of paper is formed following a 1500-year old tradition of Japanese hand-papermaking. While the sheet is still wet, large flecks of real gold and silver leaf are dispersed over it, then another layer of pulp is screened to sandwich the flecks of leaf. Still wet, this double-layered sheet is carefully showered with water on only the top layer to open the delicate holes. After making a stack of the double-layer sheets, they are dried, and individually dyed using light-fast pigments. This paper is wonderful for layering in collage, for making stationery, and for photo backgrounds. Package contains ten 10"x 12" sheets. #SI-HK-70 © 2000 PaperConnection International |
